A welcome to turn to a popular event

On March 17th we welcome back The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight who are returning to the Petwood for what is becoming an annual event. The 'Evening With...' will see various members of the Flight, including OC BBMF Squadron Leader Mark Sugden, give a presentation and debate on what it takes to the keep the Flights aircraft in the air.

This year there will be a particular focus on the AVRO Lancaster in this, the 80th anniversary year of the Dambusters Raid in 1943. The events and commemorations around the anniversary will have an increased poignancy given the recent passing of Squadron Leader George Leonard 'Johnny' Johnson MBE DFM who is a much missed friend of the Petwood. Those of you who visited the hotel shortly after his passing will have seen the hotels RAF ensign flying at half mast in his honour and the book of condolence available to sign in the foyer. This book is on its way to 'Johnny's' family in due course and we hope the wonderful messages contained within it will bring some comfort to them in this difficult time.

We very much look forward to welcoming the Flight back to the hotel in March. Tickets sales have gone very well since the launch last week and as a result we have moved the event into our larger Woodland Suite so that we can accommodate more of you who wish to come along. The extra tickets have been released on our website here so please do consider coming and joining us on the night. Tickets are priced at £7.50 (plus admin fee) and there will be no tickets on the door on the night so please book now to avoid disappointment.
