In times of trouble...

In times such as these it is very easy to get despondent about the situation we all find ourselves in but, here at the Petwood we believe that there are still things we can all look forward to and enjoy.

We know that we have all been asked to make sure we take part in the current social isolation guidelines and it goes without saying that we all need to do whatever we can to keep ourselves and the vulnerable in our society to stay healthy.  At the moment there are still some things we can do outside to keep ourselves fit and healthy however, like taking a walk in the countryside and enjoying nature around us. The Petwood Gardens are still open to the public and with 30 acres to enjoy and explore, plenty of space to be outside but away from crowds of people. If the sun is out, you can, if you want, enjoy a meal outside on the terrace where we have spaced out our tables to give you more space away from others.

Once we are back to normal, hopefully in the coming months, we have some fantastic events here at the hotel which are free to attend and always popular here in the village. The first of these is a stalwart of our calendar and one of our favourite weekends of the year, the Woodhall Spa 1940’s Festival when we welcome thousands of you to the grounds of the hotel. As in other years there will be a range of local food stalls and trade stands in the gardens. You can also enjoy a classic Petwood Afternoon Tea or change it up to a Gin and Afternoon Tea, always a delight in summer sunshine (British weather permitting!). There will also be plenty of extra seating for those of you wanting to enjoy a meal from our award-winning menus in an al fresco setting. If the weather plays ball, and schedules align, you might also catch a glimpse of the Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricanes of the Battle of Memorial Flight who seem to enjoy the weekend as much as we do with their flypasts over the village and hotel.

The following month in August, we have the popular Concourse D’Elegance car show also in the grounds of the hotel. The event sees a large number of vintage car and bike owners take over the grounds of the hotel with their amazing vehicles. It’s a wonderful family friendly event with live entertainment from the fantastic Hot Dogs who will be bringing their New Orleans inspired jazz sound to the terrace and gardens.

So, while we know that things are hard at the moment, there are better things to come for us all. During this quiet time, we are busy plotting a number of different ways that we can help you all and especially the most vulnerable in our community. We know how much the Petwood means to you all and we want you to know that you mean the world to us. In the next few days we will be announcing some ways that we intend to prove that. In the meantime, please all stay safe and if you do feel that you want to pay us a visit, you will as always, be more than welcome.
