Petwood awarded Culture Recovery Fund grant

Great News For Petwood Preservation Projects

We are delighted to have been awarded £50,000 as part of DCMS’s Cultural Recovery Fund. This funding will ensure we can appropriately maintain the heritage asset of the Petwood’s gardens as we recover from the significant impact that Covid-19 has placed on our industry and the mandated closure of our business.

Having invested so heavily in the restoration of the Peto gardens in 2017 – achieving Grade II listed status from Historic England – it has been a worry to us of how we can maintain these beautiful gardens when our business has been subjected to trading restrictions over many months.

Understanding the importance of safe, outdoor space for the benefits of health and wellbeing, we have been proud to keep our gardens open to the public (subject to social distancing guidance) and have enjoyed seeing how important this has been for our neighbours. The security of this Culture Recovery Fund grant will ensure that we can finance the return to work of our garden team and contractors who do such a fabulous job of maintaining our fabulous gardens.

We wish to thank the Treasury and Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport for making this rescue fund available so that cultural and heritage sites like ours can continue to serve the public.
