Grounds

The grounds often contribute to the Petwood’s popularity as a wedding venue. They not only provide another aspect as an outdoor entertaining space in summer, they offer a truly fabulous backdrop for wedding photographs and capturing moments of the special day.

Some aspects of the grounds were designed to be like parkland on a smaller scale with many varieties of trees. 30 acres of woodland make for some beautiful walks throughout the seasons, especially in autumn with the vivid colours.

The Petwood grounds are perhaps best known for

the rhododendron walks; the mass of pink and purple flowers when in bloom in May being a splendid sight. Lady Weigall planned the rhododendron walks and would no doubt be delighted to see how they draw interest as much now as they did over a century ago in her vision for the Petwood.

A large lily pond and several water fountains add to the appeal of the grounds. With many settings for stunning wedding photographs, the Petwood has both the space and location opportunities for some fabulous photographs of a truly memorable day.
