From RAF Base to One of the Best Hotels in Lincolnshire
Bursting with character and history, Petwood is truly unique among hotels in Lincoln and the surrounding area. The elegant hand-carved staircase and extensive oak panelling typify the old world charm of the place, while guests can enjoy discovering features such as the Squadron Bar and immaculately kept gardens. The original features and historic ambience of the house are sympathetically maintained in harmony with comfortable rooms. A taste of nostalgia with the best of the present, one might say.
Where Heroes Trod … and Friends Meet
Although originally built for an Edwardian Baroness, it is the famous RAF 617 or “Dambusters” squadron who truly placed Petwood on the map (see our History Section). Our collection of fascinating memorabilia is a testament to the intrepid RAF officers who found the house and grounds a “splendid place” to return to after their daring wartime raids. We think you’ll agree with them, albeit in very different circumstances.
From Relaxation to Celebration
Whether it is the crackle of a winter log fire or afternoon tea on the terrace; a lavish summer wedding or an intimate dinner, Petwood makes a splendid location. There is always a welcoming atmosphere and so much to find and explore. The Squadron Bar, for example, is a grand place to enjoy a pint of local ale and take in the wonderful collection of memorabilia. With a real fire place, our Drawing Room has a friendly warmth in more ways than one.
The choice of dining experience is all yours too: our Terrace Bar has a relaxed feel, while the Dining Room offers an elegant sense of occasion. Talking of which, functions are ever popular at Petwood, whether it is a private hire party, a birthday celebration or a reunion of old friends. Over many years of great service, the hotel has also established itself as a popular wedding venue in Lincolnshire, offering a magical setting to tie the knot.
